Looking Forward to April’s Events and Festivals

With February now out of the way (the Met Office is expected to confirm today that it was the wettest February on record), let us look forward to April and the best events on offer.

05–07 April: Hong Kong Rugby Sevens – Hong Kong
It’s a weekend of thrilling rugby, electric entertainment, and nonstop revelry – the Hong Kong Sevens is back! To rugby fans, it’s world-class action. To the costumed stands, it’s the city’s favourite festival. The Hong Kong Sevens is a 3-day tournament of non-stop rugby and top-tier vibes.

The Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens has humble beginnings. The first tournament was played in 1976, when 12 teams drew a curious crowd of 3,000 to witness tackles pitchside. Today, the #HK7s has become the most anticipated tournament on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series calendar. We attract some of the world’s greatest players from every corner of the globe and thousands of fans ready to cheer – rain or shine.

6–14 April: The Rolex Monte Carlo Tennis Masters – Monte Carlo
What a stunning location to watch some top tier tennis on the legendary clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club. The final list of player participation will be announced on 12th March, but 130,000 tickets have already been sold. Last year there were over 140,000 spectators, 38.4 million TV viewers and 167.1 million views on social networks.

11–14 April: Masters Golf – Augusta, Georgia, USA
The Masters is one of the most exciting tournaments in golf, the tournament welcomes Patrons every year to the stunning Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia to watch the world’s best golfers battle for the coveted Green Jacket.

13 April: Misano Motorcycling ePrix – Italy
Electric motor racing series Formula E includes the addition of Italy’s Misano World Circuit for the first time.

Misano becomes the third new venue for the 2024 season alongside Tokyo and Shanghai and replaces Rome as the Italian round on the schedule. The Misano track in the Emilia-Romagna region is a fixture in the MotoGP World Championship, and Formula E will race there on April 13 and 14.

20 April-06 May: World Snooker Championship – The Crucible, England
The Cazoo World Snooker Championship is professional snooker’s longest-running and most prestigious tournament, and has been held at the iconic Crucible Theatre in Sheffield since 1977.

11–13 April: Grand National – Aintree, England
The Randox Grand National is one not to miss! It’s more than just the world’s greatest steeplechase. This is horse racing with a difference. A national institution with a global audience. An event of grand proportions and nothing is done by halves. It’s unmissable sport and entertainment guaranteed to leave you with unforgettable memories.

19-21 April: Motorcycling World Superbikes – Assen, Netherlands
The 2024 World Superbike race weekend at Assen will be a lively affair, with bikers from all over Europe making the annual pilgrimage to the famous TT circuit. The Dutch round is a great introduction to European superbike racing.

21 April: London Marathon – London, UK
The London Marathon first took place in 1981 and has become one of the most popular marathons in the world. The route takes in many of London’s best landmarks including Buckingham Palace, The Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf.

12-21 April: Coachella Festival Indio – California, USA
Coachella 2024 is nearly here. The Indio music festival typically marks one of the earliest live music weekends across the world. Its lineup outclasses nearly every other music festival – from No Doubt, Lana Del Rey and Tyler the Creator to Doja Cat, Blur and Ice Spice.

26 April – 05 May: New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival – New Orleans, USA
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, known as Jazz Fest, is the celebration of the unique culture and heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana. Featuring an endless amount of music, succulent local and regional delicacies, one-of-a-kind handmade arts and crafts, second-line parades and so much more – there is something for everyone at Jazz Fest!
