Inside Bill Gates’ $70M Private Jet Flight to Vietnam

With Bill Gates and his girlfriend arriving in Da Nang this week in the American billionaire’s US$70-million Gulfstream G650ER, we thought it opportune to take a look ‘under the bonnet’ of the luxurious Gulfstream.

Manufactured by the American company Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, the aircraft can accommodate a maximum of 17 people in the lap of luxury, or 6-8 sleeping passengers.

Launched in 2014, the Gulfstream G650ER is one of the world’s fastest and largest commercial aircraft with prices starting at $70 million, and actually holds the record for the farthest, fastest flight in business. With more than 500 aircraft in service and 125-plus world speed records, the G650 and G650ER are among the most trusted business jets in the world.

The spacious interior is a refined getaway above the clouds where supreme comfort meets high design and innovation. Gulfstream’s clean air system delivers 100% fresh air every two to three minutes, and our air-ionising technology neutralises allergens and viruses. The plane also boasts Ka-band wifi and fast global internet.

Pairing Gulfstream’s aerodynamic wing and advanced avionics with Rolls-Royce engines, the clean-sheet design of the G650 and G650ER represents a bold leap ahead in high-speed efficiency and fuel-economy. Gulfstream leads the industry in sustainability innovation, from new aircraft technology to environmentally responsible practices.

Innovation powers the G650 family. Gulfstream’s aerodynamic wing increases speed, range and efficiency. Fly-by-wire technology creates a comfortable flight. The streamlined displays of the PlaneView™ II flight deck increase safety and reduce pilot workload.

Certified for steep approach and equipped with Gulfstream’s Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS), the G650 and G650ER utilise state-of-the-art technology to maximise handling and performance. Planned enhancements include our award-winning Predictive Landing Performance System, which is designed to help pilots avoid runway overruns.
